Tensegrity II consists of several steel frames which appear floating in the air due to being suspended seemingly weightless from wire ropes. Thanks to the slender profiles and open forms, the structure appears light and delicate.
The shiny silver surface reflects its surroundings, creating a cool, futuristic aesthetic that can vary depending on the viewer’s perspective and the time of day. Even a light gust of wind causes the braced frames to sway; by applying gentle pressure with their fingers, visitors can set the elements gently into rotation. The elegant movements attract attention. The kinetic dynamism of the freely mounted joints lends the sculpture a playful vitality. The sculpture is designed in a way that the movements develop partially in unpredictable, even chaotic patterns.
Within the broader context of tensile structures, Tensegrity II forms part of the history of experimental steel sculptures, in which architectural clarity meets mobility.
